City / FLORIANOPOLIS:
Capital of the Brazilian State of Santa Catarina, named after its former president Floriano Peixoto.

The city of Florianópolis is located east of the State of Santa Catarina and is covered by the Atlantic Ocean.  A great part of  Florianópolis (97.23%) is located in the island of Santa Catarina, where almost 100 beaches are located, many in a virgin condition and hardly known by tourists.  There are also two large lakes:  Lagoa da Conceição (Concepción Lake) and Lagoa do Peri (Perí Lake).
